EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT:
Light-Duty Consultation
If you’ve been asked to take part in Light-Duty Consultation with Vocational Consulting, it means your employer and medical team want to help you get back to work safely while you recover from your injury.
Even though you might not be able to do everything you normally do right now, there may be options to keep you on the job in a way that fits your current limits.
Here’s what that means for you:
Reviewing Your Job Tasks: We’ll look at your regular duties and see how your work can be adjusted.
Watching How You Work: We may observe you on the job to figure out which tasks you can still do safely.
Matching Your Skills: We assess your skills to see which parts of your job can be done without risking your recovery.
Exploring Other Options: We’ll check if there are other roles at your company that fit your restrictions and require little extra training.
Safety First!
Our goal is to recommend changes or accommodations that let you work safely until you're fully healed.
Why this is good news (for you and your employer):
Studies show that if you're out of work for 6 months—even if it's due to an injury—only about 50% of people make it back to work. After a year, that number drops to just 25%. There are three main reasons for this:
Isolation: Becoming disconnected from co-workers and losing the support of your work friends
Routine: Once you're out of the swing of a regular work schedule, it’s hard to jump back in.
Self-Esteem: You take pride in your work and in getting the job done. Losing that sense of satisfaction, even temporarily, can create extra challenges.
That’s why getting you back on light duty early is a win for both you and your employer.
